This is an interesting situation, especially given all the police brutality in the news lately. If this were me, I would’ve pulled a New York Range Rover and gunned it. But I guess that’s why I’m not a cop.

For once I want to meet a lawful thug. A dude who has a 9 to 5 job during the week and cares deeply for his kids and wife but on the weekends goes ham and throws rocks at police cruisers

You’re fucking kidding me right?!?! How fucking stupid do you have to be to take on a CHP SUV? They have a lot of firepower in that car, and since it’s at night there may be two officers in the car. According to some people, law enforcement doesn’t give a fuck and just shoots people, and these officers could have gotten out and started hosing people down. Highly unlikely, as we all know, but a distinct possibility.
In terms of ramming the other car, I don’t know why they didn’t because they have rams on the front and could have slowly crept up and just tried pushing them out of the way. But I suspect the officers felt that would make the situation worse and they are surrounded.
Overall though this makes me sick. Fuck these people. Seriously, fuck them.
Also I’ve never heard a CHP siren as they only ever use their lights.

There were two officers in the car.

Woah, that sounds an awful lot like assault or vandalism.
Maybe he can just violate their personal space and say mean things about their upbringing.

Your description sounds a lot like some of the soccer hooligans we have here in the Netherlands/Europe. Normal-ish working people, who think it is normal to fight and break down everything when their favorite team has a match, regardless if their team won or lost.

Nothing like a good mob mentality to ruin an evening.

I’d imagine that the cops have some sort of flowchart/continuum for mob engagement, just like they do for vehicle pursuit. It’s hard to say what would have happened if the officers had gotten out of the cruiser with their guns drawn.

I know some guys who work hard at 9-5 jobs during the day but harbor no goodwill towards cops. I work with a kid who has been pulled over and hassled simply because he looked like he was an illegal immigrant. The type of harassment in this video is just stupid, but when you’re apart of a “brotherhood” that has been responsible for killing and harassing innocent people you have to expect things like this to happen. Good on these cops for not doing something even stupider than the guys attacking their cruiser.

That’s what I thought, but they’re still surrounded. I hope backup came quickly and they arrested as many fuckers as they could.

I think some people would have charged them and they would have had to shoot them. And at that point it would be questioned whether they should have gotten out of the car or not.

North America has that too haha Vancouver was destroyed a few years ago after the Canucks lost in the Stanley Cup finals. Happens a lot in college towns too during match madness

Police cruisers need more of this (from all angles).

Civil unrest is usually characterized in the manner which you described looking for these 9-5 thugs. I’m not gonna say what/who you just described, but they ain’t the color of the guys in that video.

Of course it was Oakland.
Burn that festering cesspool to the ground and rebuild once it’s done smoldering.

I fully support using riot tanks in situations like this. They have tear gas launchers do they not?

Alright, go ahead.

Yep, getting out would put these officers in much greater danger, and would greatly increase the chance of someone getting shot.
While I hope they can track down and arrest the people who attacked the car, I’d much rather allocate extra funds for fixing up damaged cruisers than have the police shoot people over vandalism (and possibly end up paying out in legal fees and settlements anyway).

All things considered, Chippy probably did the best thing, though it strikes me that pushing the front car through the intersection with the cow pusher front bumper might also have been an option.

On the plus side, there will be a binged up Explorer PI, on the auction block soon, for anyone looking.

That’s what I would have done.

Then again, if person in front was standing on his brakes, and Chippy lost traction, then we'd be watching a YouTube video of an epic CHP burnout. Besides, I bet they track down the hoodlums who were kicking the car.
